Learn to sail a yacht far and wide
More advanced learning can lead to amazing experience.
Day Skipper to Yachtmaster
A Day Skipper is someone who takes their vessel out in familiar waters during the day. There is a new category of Yachtmaster Coastal, a skipper who can progress to new harbours and sail at night, replacing the former category of Coastal Skipper.
Coastal to Offshore
The Yachtmaster® Offshore level is intended for skippers looking to go up to 60 miles from land, not only crossing the English Channel but the North Sea too, or perhaps crossing to Ireland. For those travelling elsewhere in the world, the Yachtmaster should be able to charter with confidence in most parts of the world.
Why ABC Sailing for Coastal and Offshore Yachtmaster Theory?
First, we investigate your current level of knowledge. Second, we find out how you want to develop. Is it sailing a yacht or motor sailing? Do you plan to cruise far and wide or go racing? Do you plan to buy your own boat?
Then we help you develop your skills through interesting exercises, games, problem solving and real-life tasks. There is lots of guidance but the emphasis is on your learning through doing. Sometimes you work on your own, sometimes in pairs or groups. Classroom size is normally small - typically around 8 people. This enables us to expand your horizons and become a skipper with all round capability to plan, manage and enjoy your yachting to the full.
